Who We Are
Strong Kids Safe Kids (SKSK) is a life-enriching community
composed of volunteers, community agencies & businesses who
come together to help develop strong, safe and healthy
families. We know it takes strong, safe and healthy families
to build strong, safe & healthy kids.
Our premiere event, the
Annual SKSK Festival of
Chemung County focuses on giving families information about
community services and safety issues while engaging children
in fun activities where they can learn and their parents can
learn with them. All Activities at the SKSK festival are
FREE for children and their families!!!
Strong Kids Safe Kids began in 1984 as a child ID
fingerprinting event sponsored by the Task Force on Children
and Families of Chemung County. The event quickly outgrew its
original purpose to become a highly effective mechanism for
human service and law enforcement agencies, fire departments,
and health and education providers to reach out and connect
families to information and services to help kids and families
be strong and safe in Chemung County. Today the SKSK committee
is the Task Force and is committed to hosting the annual SKSK
festival and other
Community Support Projects
to educate and strengthen Chemung County Families.
The Task Force (aka Strong kids Safe Kids) is 501c3
not-for-profit corporation managed by an all volunteer
standing committee made up of representatives from local
businesses and community organizations; and child advocates.
Donations from local businesses, organizations, and grantors
help cover the cost of the Annual Strong Kids Safe Kids
Festival including but not limited to supplies, marketing/PR
efforts, festival activities and entertainment fees,
insurance, promotional items/giveaways; and other community
support programs/events.
